No New Year's Resolutions for Me...

I have never made a New Year's resolutions. Maybe it's because I have never met anyone who has kept one! So instead of making a resolution, I want to try twelve new things in the twelve months of 2012. One new thing per month.

Here is my list of twelve new things would like to do or try this year (however, no skydiving will be involved):

January: Plant a herb garden in the kitchen window sill

February: Learn to make crepes

March: Spend time learning to take better photographs

April: Visit the St. Louis Botanical Gardens

May: Grow corn in the garden

June: Give birth to my fourth child (Hey... it is something I have NEVER done)

July: Put up a clothes line (I am sure the neighbors will love this. But I will take it down at night before they get home from work)

August: Learn to make sky high southern style biscuits

September: Make my own apple butter

October: Make Halloween costumes for the kids

November: Learn to make homemade noodles (like my Mom used to make)

December: Make my own wrapping paper

Be always at war with your vices, at peace with your neighbors, and let each new year find you a better man. ~Benjamin Franklin

On your twelve:
1) Let me know how this works. In Mississippi, the herbs get huge. There's no way they could fit on my window sill. But it could be that I don't know what I'm doing yet. I have a cute wooden white planter by my front door that my husband made for me. I've grown basil, dill, parsley, cilantro, mint, and oregano.
2) My dream is to have a little restaurant called "Quiche and Crepes - A Breakfast Boutique" where I sell, you guessed it, quiche and crepes (along with cinnamon rolls and pancakes).
3) My husband got me a new point-and-shoot for Christmas. Well, it's not a 35mm but it still has about six settings that I would like to learn to use.
4)I'd like to visit Little Rock
5)Grow asparagus
6)Did that! And I love, love, love her so much . . . looking forward to #5 but not until 2013.
7)I LOVE dryers! So instead, I want to grow a TREE (mimosa!)
8)I'd like to have it so that people at church can't wait to be invited to dinner at our house.
9)Make my own yogurt
10)You mean sew? I did that sew (ha-ha) long ago that I don't remember a stitch of it. Hmmm . . . I'll try to knit something this month (got a book for beginners for Christmas).
11)Why would you want to do this? For the experience? Tell me the secret to "homemade" noodles. Are they different than store-bought?
12)THAT sounds like it could be very creative and beautiful. I want to be AT HOME for Christmas - no driving hundreds of miles to visit family. Just cozy in my home (pregnant with #5).

I'm so glad I found you!
